Partido de Benito Juarez

Qué? You'll be forgiven for drawing a blank on this one, but Benito Juarez was a former lawyer and President of Mexico intermittently throughout the middle of The Nineteenth Century. Mexican tradition dictates that, on the third Monday in March, his birthday is celebrated as a public holiday, and tributes are paid to the reforms he made to establish a democratic federal republic. The 'Partido' bit refers to the party, and as we are so often reminded that Britain is a diverse and multicultural society nowadays, why not join in the fun?

Honour Mexican culture and traditions as we know them today, by throwing together your favourite banquet of nachos, fajitas and chilli tacos. Invite all your friends over to don the famous sombrero hat, and get them all dancing as you strum along to the legendary sounds of the mariachi bands on your guitar!

What you will need:

- Nachos and salsa dip

- Fajita and taco kit

- Beef Chilli

- Margarita bowl (See our 'Frozen Cucumber Margarita recipe)

- Sombreros

- Mariachi CD/Playlist

- Acoustic guitar/Banjo

"A few friends of mine put on this night last March, and I can honestly say it is one of the most fun nights I've had since starting university. It's surprising how quickly everyone enters into the spirit of things, but I suppose the free-flowing tequila loosened people up! I'd definitely recommend this night to anyone who fancies something a little out of the ordinary!
